A native of Indiana, Shawn moved to Tampa in 1983 to attend the University of South Florida. After graduation, he attended The University of Florida College of Law, graduating in 1990 and returning to his adopted hometown of Tampa to begin his law practice.  

Shawn is a small business owner whose companies employ over 30 residents in Tampa Bay.  He was recognized by his business peers with the Tampa Bay Business Journal's "40 under 40" award, an annual recognition of Tampa Bay's most successful young business professionals. He has achieved the highest recognition of professional competence and ethics for attorneys given, the prestigious "AV" rating by Martindale-Hubbell. And his company Medical Collection Group is a four time recipient of the USF “Fast 56”award, recognizing the 56 fastest growing businesses in the world owned by a USF graduate.      

Mr. Harrison also has a long history of elected service to his community. From 1996-1998 he served as Chairman of the Tampa Palms Community Development District, 1999-2007 on the Tampa City Council, 2004-2007 as Chairman of the Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization, 2007-2010 as a founding member of the Tampa Bay Area Regional Transit Authority (TBARTA), and for six years in the Florida House of Representatives. He was named Legislator of the Year by the Florida Fraternal Order of Police in 2012 for his sponsorship of the Fallen Heroes Family Tax Relief Act and in 2016 by the Florida Assisted Living Federation for his work on elder protection. While in the Legislature he sponsored dozens of bills, most of which were aimed at elder protection.  

Shawn is the proud father of an Eagle Scout and a NCAA athlete. He has served on many community boards such as Zoo Tampa at Lowry Park, Glazer Children’s Museum, Gulf Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America, and is currently a Trustee of the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He is a member of Florida Blue Key, the Order of the Golden Brahman, Sons of the American Revolution, and Omicron Delta Kappa.  His wife Susan is a 1989 graduate of UF, and 1994 graduate of Mercer Law School.
